Welcome to WWW.OLDTRUCK.SYTES.NET!
This page was created to record the progress of my 1951 Dodge B-3-C pickup truck as it is being turned from a old parade vehicle into a modern hot rod pickup! This truck was bought from a private person in a town west of Madison, WI. The truck was originally listed on Ebay for sale, and I was the last high bidder in at $810.00 but I did not win the truck with that bid, since the reserve was set at $1500.00. I had emailed the owner and mentioned that I was still very interested and did not think that his reserve was out of line, and that I would like to come down and look at it, and possibly buy it from him. After looking the truck over and thinking about it for a bit, I bought the truck for $1200.00 in cash and trailered it home. When I had bought the truck from him, he mentioned that it ran and drove. And it did! The engine that is in the vehicle, was a remanufactured engine from Sears and Roebuck and Company. It does not smoke or burn oil, the clutch is good and tight. The truck is a 4 speed with a granny 1st gear. Very minor rust (from what I can see) and the floors and cab are in great condition however, the fenders, box and doors have dents and some body filler in them, but I will get to that a little later. My plans for this truck is to convert this old parade vehicle into a modern Hot Rod. Nothing too radical, but something that if you want to take it for a nice long drive, or get on it a little bit it would get the job done. Here is what I have planned for this truck:
* Chevy LT1 Engine
* Ford 9" Rear End with Disc Brakes
* Custom Built IFS (Independant Front Suspension) Mustang II with Rack and Pinion Steering and Disc Brakes
* Triangulated 4 Link Rear Suspension
* Air Ride Air Bag Suspension
Right now the truck is being dissassembled and parts are being gathered to start this process.
